The Color of Money
09/28/2017
Money is still green as of this writing and most people like the color of money. That does not mean it will have the same effect on your website. Many studies have found that different colors illicit different but immediate responses from website visitors. While not everyone reacts the same to every color, the majority of website visitors tested feel the same way about several basic colors.
- Gold is considered rich and prosperous.
- White promotes a sense of clean and pure.
- Pink was found to be feminine and soft.
- Green is a natural or fresh color.
- Red is the color of danger or stress.
- Blue is regarded as calming and intellectual.
Blue is considered a favorite of the majority of surfers. It is considered a trusted color.
Here are a few colors with a bad rap.
Red ~ we all want to avoid a color that imposes a feeling of danger or stress.
Baby Blue ~ this color often implies a feeling of weakness.
Orange ~ implies a cheerful levity however it is one of Americans least favorite colors.
Yellow ~ leaves many with an annoying or brash feeling.
Before you go and change your website you should know that almost every color has or creates both positive and negative reactions. For instance, blue can also give some a cold and gloomy impression. And still others feel red is brave and passionate. The shade of a color or the hue, saturation and luminosity of a specific color can have an individual impact as well. Colors chosen with low saturation are often favored by women and a bolder look may appeal to a broader audience. Of course mood, culture, industry and location all have an affect on our likes and dislikes.
The negative side of green implies inexperience, greed and jealousy. Green is still the color of money but the shade of green you choose for your website may dictate your sites success.
