Take One Moment
How busy are you? Is
it possible that you aren't giving enough personal attention to your customers?
I am not pointing fingers because I am certain that I am guilty of this at
times, especially when I feel the pressure of a deadline looming or when family
schedules press to close to business duties. There are simple actions we can
take to improve the customer relations we have worked so hard to establish.
Imagine you are
sitting in your office and you see a long time customer at the counter
purchasing another of your fine products. Just take a moment. Get up from the
desk, walk out to the counter and say, "Jack, (only of course if Jack is his
name) it is sure good to see you. I just wanted to step out and wish you say
hello, and thank you for doing business here for all these years." If you can't
say that without meaning it then you don't deserve Jack's business.
Since you were sincere and really do appreciate
Jack's business, what impact do you think it will have on your business? Jack
probably isn't going to turn around and place a million dollar order, but he may
just be your customer for several more years.
Relationships are what long-term business is
built upon, not the latest fad, exorbitant advertising scheme or costly over the
top promotions. Real relationships, built on trust, integrity, and a desire to
serve those who do business with you are the foundation for every lasting
business.
So when you get the chance, take one moment! |
Wall++
Disney Research & Carnegie Mellon University have submitted a
paper to 2018 CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems that
describes a wall treatment that can make an ordinary wall a touch capacitive
touchpad. The Wall is treated with conductive paint then connected to
electrodes. The wall looks like a standard wall.
Not only can the wall be
used like a giant touchpad, it can also detect movement and device usage in the
surrounding area as an electromagnetic sensor. Imagine a hidden light switch
anywhere on your wall. How about a wall that can tell you when your laundry is
done? Or tie the wall together with other smart home devices and connect your
entire home.
Wall++ is not currently available as a retail product but
the cost to make a conductive wall is about $21 per square meter.
