Adapting to Change
Internet use is changing. While
website visitor counts used to sky rocket in winter months and languish during
the busy days of summer, the seasonal gap has all but disappeared. Internet
shoppers now use the internet year round. Many people, myself included, check
local business websites to see if they offer a specific product or service.
People use the internet for more things, more often. When my child asks a
question I don't know the answer to, we both instinctively turn to the internet
for the answer. Of course we stick to sites that offer content we trust, but
invariably we find the answer.

VirusTotal, a subsidiary of Google,
is a free online service that analyzes files and URLs enabling the
identification of viruses, worms, trojans and other kinds of malicious content
detected by antivirus engines and website scanners. At the same time, it may be
used as a means to detect false positives, i.e. innocuous resources detected as
malicious by one or more scanners.
The website reports that
files up 64MB can currently be scanned. Any binary type file like an image,
VirusTotal uses several antivirus solutions to scan specific files and
should not be relied on as a replacement for an antivirus program on your PC or
VirusTotal out here.
