Professionalism Minus One |
I was in the hospital for 5 days
recently, and dozens of Doctors,
Nurses, Lab Techs, and others
helped me recover as comfortably
as possible. I admired the
professionalism of the hospital
staff even though they were
poking, prodding, and x-raying
me around the clock. After
returning home, my family asked
me about my recovery. One person
came to mind due to a lack of
professionalism. With dozens of
dedicated and competent
healthcare providers, the one
negative stood out. Why do we do
that?
Our businesses face
the same scrutiny every day. A
customer comes into a store and
meets several competent
professionals. One person has a
bad attitude, and that is the
moment that stands out. A
pleasant experience turns into a
bad one just like that. It
doesn't take much to change a
customer experience. Every
employee must be on the same
page.
Is it fair to
judge an entire business due to
one person? Probably not, but we
do it anyway. I decided that if
asked about my hospitalization,
I would focus on the majority of
people who treated me so
competently. We should probably
do the same with businesses as
well. Can we expect customers to
be so open-minded?
Customers expect us to be
professional, courteous, and
competent. Staff must be trained
to company standards and
understand the value of every
customer. When someone chooses
to do business with us, we are
responsible for the customer
experience, good or bad.
What do you think? Would you be
happy if most of your employees
were professional but one was
incompetent? I bet not. Imagine
how our customers feel. |

Just For Grins
 |
- I've made it from the
bed to the couch. There's no stopping me now.
- Our phones fall, we
panic. Our friends fall, we laugh.
- I just cleaned
everything from top to bottom, so now I'm going to
need everyone to stop living here.
- Yesterday I really
wanted tacos. Now I'm eating tacos. Follow your
dreams.
- Be careful when you
follow the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.
- You know you are
getting old when the candles on your birthday cake
start to cost more than the cake itself.
- Every day, thousands
of innocent plants are killed by vegetarians. Help
end the violence. Eat bacon.
- Common sense is like
deodorant. The people who need it most never use
it.
- There is one word that
describes people that don’t like me: Irrelevant.
- I don't know if you
call this street smarts.......I am going to make a
voodoo doll of myself then give it a back rub.
- Have the confidence of
a naked toddler wearing a t-shirt on his head.
- Thin mints do not
work.
