How Do You See It?
As our society becomes
more dependent on visual communication it is important for businesses to keep
pace. Visual communication is prevalent in the lives of younger customers. Sites
like YouTube, Vimeo, Hulu and others are reaching massive audiences. Apps like
Snapchat, Wickr and Clipchat continue to grow in popularity. If businesses wish
to capture this emerging market it will be necessary to speak the language.
Visual communication is comprised of graphic design and illustration
including painting and drawing as well as video and photography. Variations
exist of each of these core components. Take video for example, full length
movies, video clips and documentaries are a just a few of the permutations that
make videos so engaging.
There has been an explosion of photos on
websites over the past several years. This has occurred due to higher bandwidths
and the demands of a more visual culture. Many of the websites we have developed
recently have been more graphics intensive as well. Photos and graphics are the
first steps to attracting a market that demands visual content.
Video,
compressed for the internet, is becoming more common even on small business
websites. Adding video to a website can provide visual appeal in conjunction
with marketing value. As we all know from watching television, video marketing
(commercials) can be very effective.
The use of video tutorials, help
files and other instruction material can be useful for consumers and adds a
component not yet found on every website. Short testimonial video clips
reviewing products and services can be very impactful. If you decide to add
video to your site be sure to keep the content interesting and as brief as
possible. Video can establish a one way bond similar to a face to face meeting,
so make sure the content is engaging and the person being filmed is personable.
Video may be the answer for many but there are still those who prefer to
read. Polishing the written content on our website is still an important part of
retaining visitors. Whatever medium(s) you choose to reach your customers it is
crucial that you provide quality content.

Microscale 3-D Printing
Microscale 3-D Printing is a
process that uses inks made from different materials including biological
materials that are applied with great precision to create intricately shaped
objects.
Recently a group at Harvard, led by Jennifer Lewis, a materials
scientist at Harvard University, printed biological tissue interwoven with a
complex structure of blood vessels. The group believes that this may be the
first step toward printing a liver or kidney.
Lewis and the group at
Harvard University are not the only ones working on printing complex 3-D objects
with varied materials. Princeton University researchers have printed a bionic
ear using tissue and electronics, while a team at the University of Cambridge
printed retinal cells forming eye tissue.

TeraCopy Speed up Windows
File Transfers
|
TeraCopy
TeraCopy speeds up file transfers on Windows
OS. It replaces the file copy system used on Windows systems. TeraCopy allows
for multi threaded transfers and merges simultaneous copy windows in to a single
pane.
TeraCopy offers pause and resume buttons that are handy when you
are multitasking. One of the best things about TeraCopy is the fact that it waits
to notify you of a troublesome or in use file until a transfer is complete. Your
copying is not halted while your system waits for you to decide what to do with a
locked file.
