Are Your Christmas Lights Still Up?
Are your Christmas
lights still up? Do You have holiday decorations adorning the walls? Are remnants of a
New Years party still evident? If so, you are not alone. Many people
procrastinate when it comes to packing away holiday items. Perhaps it is a fear
that the joy of the season will fade as these decorations are packed away until
next year. I almost convinced myself with that one.
What comes to mind when you see a business
displaying Christmas decorations in March? Whatever we may think, it is obvious
that someone forgot to remove the decorations (and may have missed Valentines
Day all together). This sends a message that the business may not be on top of
things, or is simply that far behind.
Our websites create
an impression in the same way holiday decorations do for our visitors. If our
content is out of date, it sends a message to our visitors that we may not be on
top of things. Imagine a sign that says "Summer Sale Ends Soon" that is taped to
the window and undisturbed in December. People notice; people talk, and it can
cost us money.
Reviewing your website content is not exciting
(usually), sexy, or even interesting for most website owners. The review is
important, however, and only requires a few minutes every month or two depending
on the business. Once you complete the analysis of your content be sure to act
and update areas where change is needed.
If you are the
person that missed Valentines Day altogether, you may have bigger problems than
we can solve in this newsletter, but a few minutes each month can separate you
from the owner that appears to be lagging behind and give your site visitors a
positive impression of your website. |

and consequently I will never be ending a work email with the phrase 'Regards'
