Three Tips for Outstanding Customer Service
Customer service isn't always easy. Satisfied customers take effort and planning. Self-review and established processes can make it easier. Here are three tips that may help.

1. Create a frictionless customer service experience. How does your business currently deal with consumer issues? Try to walk through the process like a customer would. Who will they deal with? Is this person friendly? What type of hoops does the customer have to jump through for results? Reduce the friction in this process, and your customers will be happier.

2. Surprise your customer with over-the-top service. It is easy to say this, but sometimes difficult to execute. Imagine a customer who purchases groceries and discovers a damaged item when they arrive home. The customer calls the grocery store to complain, and the manager offers to deliver a replacement when he gets off work in a half hour. The customer is thrilled. The store exceeded expectations and made it easy for the customer to resolve their problem. This resolution creates a positive memory the customer is happy to share with others.

3. Fix problems proactively. Ask personnel what the most common customer complaints are. Review social media and emails to find common issues. Address problems as you identify them. Reducing problems should reduce consumer complaints.

Apply these tips, and you should be on your way to outstanding customer service.
