Put Your Message in Motion
Are you planning on
traveling this summer? Whether you plan to take a vacation, have a few getaway
weekends planned or intend to stay close to home, you can still put your message
in motion. Your automobile is uniquely suited to promote your business.
While not for everyone, automobile advertising
can create a dramatic number of impressions. Imagine how many people see your
vehicle each day. You don’t have to be driving your car or truck to garner
attention either, people can view your message even while you are parked.
Of course, the real
question is how far do you want to go? A full vehicle wrap will draw the most
attention but some people are uncomfortable driving the equivalent of a moving
billboard. A full vehicle wrap can make it difficult to use your vehicle for
purposes other than business.
Magnetic signs have
their advantages, due to their portability they are relatively easy to remove if
you want to use the vehicle for personal reasons. The fact that they are
portable also makes some magnets easier to lose.
Window and body clings can be moved and adjusted
but are often more likely to be lost than a vehicle wrap. Vehicle decals are
considered semi-permanent and although they can be removed fairly easily they
are not intended to be removed and reapplied. Decals may be a cost-effective
option that allows for varied placement on an automobile.
License plate
holders don’t stand out the way that a wrap, magnet, or decal will but they
offer an easy way to promote your business or website. Bumper stickers can be
added to the mix and could be offered to customers if appropriate.
You may want to
check local and state laws before making a major investment in automobile
advertising. Some states and communities have strict laws regarding the use of
these advertising mediums. Some homeowners associations do not allow commercial
vehicles to be parked near residences for extended periods. Many states do allow
for this type of advertising but it would be best to check first.
If you decide that
auto advertising is right for you, be sure to include your website address so as
you drive, you can drive traffic to your website. |
3D Printing Metal & Carbon Fiber
While 3D printing has
been around for decades it has recently become more of a consumer market. Small
3D printers that print with plastic are affordable and usable by the general
public. They are used to make toys, prototypes, home decor and medical aids such
as a 3D printed hand.
Until now, 3D printing with metal was exorbitantly expensive and very
time-consuming. Innovations now allow for some intricate parts to be printed
within an hour.
Desktop Metal is a company that offers both a Studio system which is meant
for Engineers and a Production system for mass production. The systems use metal
powders, extruded metal bars, and binders to generate the printed items. Visit
the website for technical descriptions of how each system works. Using methods
similar to the latest inkjet printing systems allow 3D metal printing at a much
faster rate than previously thought possible.
Another company,
Markforged, offers
products that print 3D Carbon Fiber and composite objects. Markforged claims 3D
printing with composites can reduce costs per part as well as make those parts
up to 20x stronger.
Markforged offers a 3D metal printer as well and it
uses metal powder and a binder to print an item. Metals such as aluminum,
stainless steel and titanium can be used as well as others. 3D metal printed
items can be created at a much lower cost according to the Markforged website.
3D metal printing has come a long way but don't expect a hobby version soon.
Modern 3D Metal Printing systems can cost over a $100,000 dollars so they
probably won't featured at the mall anytime soon. The possibilities for
manufacturing are endless and on-demand parts are now a reality. |

Oh, Come On! |
1. Most people are shocked when they find out how bad I am as
an electrician. 2.
What's it called when a King and Queen have no children? A receding heir line. 4.
A dad is washing the car with his son. After a moment, the son asks his father,
"Do you think we could use a sponge instead?" 5.
I saw a post on Craigslist that said: Radio for sale, $1. Volume knob stuck on
full. I thought to myself, I can't turn that down!
6.
I was walking by a house that was being worked on and the
guy hammering on the roof called me a paranoid little weirdo... In morse code.
7.
I said to my wife, "I need to call the doctor
today.""Which doctor?", she replied. "No, the regular kind." 8.
My friend always tells me "cheer up, at least you aren't stuck in a deep hole
full of water". I know he means well. 9.
I saw a man at the beach yelling "Help! Shark! Help!" I laughed because I knew
that the shark wasn't going to help him.
10. I swallowed some food coloring.
My doctor says I'm okay, but I feel like I've dyed a little inside. |
